A few of us were discussing this in one of the private forums. Someone told me I should let the whole community see my opinions about what shifter (or a mod with a new name should be)
I think you should make it simple as follows
Gameplay
::Most important:: All current gameplay packs and weapons will remain in the game! This would allow a new player to work in a familier environment when they begin playing shifter and still be somewhat competative.
Spawn Favs
gens must be up as well as a remote spawn invo station (this would be a station that could provide your inventory from a remote location and must be deployed within a certian proximity of the base) (If you choose to spawn at another location besides the main base you will have to depend upon the stations provided)
________________________
Armors::
Scout 3weapons
Chem 3weapons
Engineer 4weapons
Mercenary 4weapons
Dread 3weapons
Juggy 3weapons
_____________________
Special Weapons
Lights - boomstick
Medium - Railgun
Heavy - Mortar options i.e. MDM, Frag, EMP ect, ::Rocket pack (Thanks Outrigger)::
juggy - & nuke (limited) as well as plasma cannon ::Shockwave cannon (Thanks Outrigger)::
_____________________
Packs
AMMO
Stealth/shield - lights only(scout)
Suicide DET packs (Merc armor only) w/ 1weapon
_____________________
Deployables
Lasre turrets
Ion Turrets
Rocket turrets
Blast floors
Blastwalls
Invos (fully functional)
Large and small forcefields
Deployable platforms
_________________________
Beacons
Scout - Stim
Chem - Teleport beacons - Simular to UT2k4 - Flag can not travel through
Engi - Repair beacons, EMP beacons, shield beacons (Choice of loadout)
Merc - Proximity beacons - Explodes with fragments within like 8 meters or so....
Dread - Radiation beacon - Gives of radiation when deployed, slowly takes life and energy from all items to include enemy deployables ect.
Jugg - Heavy weapons beacon/ needed to operate the heavy weapons (nukes & Plasma cannon) that the jugg carries.
____________________
Mines
Scout - Standard
Chem - Sticky (timed detination) mines
Engi - Laser mines, multipliers, cloaked
Merc - Standard
Dread - Laser mines, standard, multipliers
Jugg - none
___________________________
Vehicle
AAPC (Airial Armored Personal Carrier) - Air carrier for juggs holds 4 juggs, 1 pilot, has 2 side guns that juggs can operate. only light can pilot.
SAPC (Surface Armored Personal Carrier) 4 juggs, 1 light driver, invo station (not a spawn point) 1 top gunner"must be light or med armor"
That is all I would add |

Heres Outrigger's list. I liked it.
plus
shockwave cannon
rocket pack for dread/jugg
and keep the speed pack from base
and of course blast walls/floores and force fields
the defensive minded players need more toys than base gives to be sure.
And my list,
*Some friggin actual fighters. I WANT MY SHRIKE!
* *cough* engin gun *cough*
* T1 style Volt Projector and Ion Gun.
* Medium should get a LightSaber to match that Shield/Buckler.
* Repair Beacons that have actual range.
* A Large Turret A.I.
* The Wildcat from T2 wouldn't be a bad idea.
* Maybe a catapult that launches you more than 3 feet away.
* Vehicle mods Rockets, Blasters, Bossters, Cloak, etc.
* Dev's C4 Mines. |

thanks for thinking of me guys!
spawn faves alone would speed up T/V and make gameplay a whole new animal that would at least be favorable to me....
what are the odds of something like this happening...a mod like we have discussed above? |

Pretty good if you work with the makers of Shifter.
Hey Stiggles how about any SOW that wants to volunteer can be a private beta tester? You can then get a wide range of opinions and feedback then. |

Absolutely, Shifter belongs to its community, not anyone player.
I know Renegades is coming out with a TV mod that features laser turrets and new armors.. I suppose we'll wait-n-see what they come out with first, and try to build on that perhaps.
We certainly need better fighters, like the Shrike - which hasnt been replaced by the wimpy pod.
Also a rocket launcher is sorely missed, hehe. I had given thought tho, to enhancing the rocket-pod. Allowing the user to detonate is rockets by releasing the Fire-Button after being fired. That would be kewl. Somewhat like the Mine-Layer in UT2K4.
Another thing is command detonated mortars, which has already been developed. But we still need a good ole' selection of mortars (frag, vortex, emp, concussion).
I think that maybe napalm option would better replace a vortex mortar in TV.
As far as Shifter special abilities and touch attacks, what are your thoughts? |

if shifter includes any of those ghey-ass t2 double mortars, i won't be able to stomach it. no double mortars, no napalm mortars, no vortex mortars, no nada.
regular, frag, emp and concussion are more than enough mortar for anyone. shifter needs to keep the "ridiculous factor" to a minimum if it wants to be viable.
energy does not need to go the route of ultravx, which the scout is close to now.
always keep in mind that if you want to get people to play shifter, you gotta remember that it's still tribes. so creating something that isn't recognizable to a tribes player isn't going to go over... ie, no mech mod or nuke mod. |

Hey wheres the assassin armor and sniper rifle?
I remember from T1 shifter the assassin armor would posion when you ran into someone, which made for fun games of hug the heavy in order to kill them. |

Naw the best game ever. Was T2 scout armor. When you touched someone they lost their pack and held weapon. You just kept knocing a jugg's crap from him and eventually he would just suicide from being stuck at your base with no pack or weapons. Was quite funney.
Yeah Stig lets not go to far overboard with Shifter. The duel morters were a over powered concept. Lets keep T:V true to both T1 and T2. |

AHHHHHHH I see we have a juggie lover among us.
I remember now. Fumi would get smoked by an Aussie on dial up, with a 500 ping in the lightest armor. |

??
you must be confusing me with someone else. the only aussie i know is muti, and he never owned me, maybe all the current t2 shifter players, but definately not me... go ask him.
besides, chem armor is where it's at... and i make that bish play as if it were a scout... it's called skill son, i don't need it coded in for me.
**edit**
lol, actually i defy you to find someone who owned me... feel free to take your time searching... i can wait. |
